OVER THE PAST 20 YEARS, MANY TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS AND RESEARCH ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE WORLD WIDE TO ENHANCE THE APPLICATION POTENTIAL AND KNOWLEDGE BASE OF ELECTRODISCHARGE (EDM) MACHINING PROCESS. THIS PAPER ADDRESSES THE FUNDAMENTAL ISSUES RELATED TO PROCESS MECHANISM, SURFACE INTEGRITY, AND CONTROL OF EDM. A BRIEF REVIEW OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN RESEARCH, TECHNOLOGY, AND APPLICATIONS OF EDM IS PRESENTED.
