1.1
This test method covers the determination of the thickness of metallic foil and sheet 0.015 in. (0.38 mm) and less in thickness by measuring the mass of a specimen of known area and density.

====== Significance And Use ======
3.1
This test method is intended for determination of an average thickness of a specimen of thin sheet or foil based on mass, density, and area. It is intended to be used where pointwise contact thickness measurements by conventional means (micrometer, optimeter) do not have sufficient accuracy.
