This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of succession planning at AWWA's Connecticut Section (CTAWWA) that includes a working relationship
with Town Tech Education Partnership
Program, developed in the early
1990s to give high school students real
life projects in partnership with town
government. The CTAWWA education committee partnered with
the Town of Portland Town Tech Educational
Partnership Program, Portland High School,
Gateway Community College and State of CT
DPH to develop a high school curriculum that would
bring awareness to careers with the water
industry. The goal of the program was to offer the class to juniors and seniors, making them eligible to sit for the
State of Connecticut operator in training exam or
continue on the Gateway curriculum with
advanced credits. At the very least, it will bring
exposure to careers in the water industry to the
high school student population. Funding for the "Water and People" class is presented, along with the memorandum of understanding (MOU) and course curriculum.
