VITRIFIED BONDED WHEELS MADE WITH SINTERED CERAMIC ALUMINUM OXIDES HAVE BEEN EVALUATED. EXPERIMENTAL WORK SHOWED THAT THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THESE WHEELS ARE PRIMARILY DEPENDENT ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE OF THE ABRASIVE MINERAL AND THE CHEMICAL REACTION AT THE VITREOUS BOND-ABRASIVE MINERAL INTERFACE. THE GRINDING PERFORMANCE, WHEN USED FOR SURFACE, INTERNAL, CENTER-TYPE OR CENTERLESS GRINDING, INDICATES EXCELLENT APPLICATION POTENTIAL.
