This paper describes a modeling study of a particular system. In this study the various elements of the control system were modeled individually and then the individual models were combined to obtain a model for the overall system. The purpose of the study was to obtain a simple model which is suitable for exploring the dynamic behavior of the system. Such a model can also be used to examine the sensitivity of a particular system to changes in component parts or operating conditions. The same model can also be used as a design tool to aid in the selection and sizing of system components and in determining controller settings which provide the "best" performance of the system over the anticipated range of operating conditions.
