Recent changes in regulations and treatment technologies dictate that the Alvarado Filtration Plant (San Diego, California), must be upgraded. Though the original plant was once considered to be a state- of-the-art treatment facility, a major renovation and rehabilitation project is needed to ensure that the plant will be able to meet the City's 21st Century water quality and treatment goals, capacity requirements, and operational needs. The expansion, rehabilitation, and renovation project description is given.
