1.1 This practice covers a means of measuring the amount of heat transfer quantitatively through a material or system. 1.2 This practice is similar to the Heat Flow Meter System of Test Method C518 , but modified to accommodate small test samples of higher thermal conductance. 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee. ====== Significance And Use ====== 5.1 This practice is designed to compare related materials under controlled conditions and their ability to maintain a minimum amount of thermal conductance. Test results should be correlated with field results in order to predict heat transfer properties in particular applications. 5.2 This practice may be used as a routine test when agreed upon by the user and the producer.
