This practice is useful in laboratory research on rheology of hydraulic cement systems as it has been shown to provide a paste with rheological properties similar to those obtained in a concrete from which the aggregate had been removed.

is not satisfactory as the paste is not thoroughly mixed, due to the absence of sand. In this practice the shear imparted to the cement paste is significantly higher than in
C305
and therefore it is known as high-shear mixing.
