Analysis of the Ultrasonic Examinations of PVRC Weld Specimens 155, 202, and 203 by Standard and Two-Point Coincidence Methods
用标准法和两点符合法对PVRC焊接试样155、202和203进行超声波检测的分析
This report describes two methods of analysis of ultrasonic examination data obtained in a 13-team round-robin examination of three intentionally flawed weldments. The objective of the examinations is to determine the accuracy of independently detecting, locating, and sizing the weld flaws using a fixed procedure. The procedure, based upon the requirements of Section XI of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, for ultrasonic examination of nuclear vessels, calls for multiple examinations from specified directions using specified ultrasonic beam angles. To provide a simulation of the restrictions encountered in field in-service examinations for which the requirements were intended, the examinations were strictly controlled to limit the specimen surfaces and search paths that could be used. The weldments are part of a series prepared by the PVRC Subcommittee on Nondestructive Examination for use in evaluating ultrasonic, radiographic, and advanced methods for volumetric examinations of heavy-section welds. In this program, the welds examined consist of a 24-in.-long butt weld in 8-in.-thick flat plate and two full-penetration nozzle welds in 8-in. base plates; one of the nozzle base plates is formed on a radius to simulate a shell section.
