This paper discusses an Energy Optimization Assessment undertaken by the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority (CCMWA) to proactively address increasing operating costs by managing energy consumption. This evaluation consisted of a hands-on approach that included onsite data gathering by
observing operations and interviewing members of the operations, maintenance, and other
staff. This included evaluation of electric billing charges, equipment efficiencies, process
operations and standard operating procedures, energy source options, and management
practices. Site visits and tours were conducted for one week to evaluate the operation and infrastructure at the water treatment plants. These site visits provided critical information for the evaluation of energy usage and the development of recommendations for energy optimization. During these site visits, operations records were collected to further analyze system operations, perform process assessments, and develop operation and capital cost estimates. Includes tables.
