This paper presents an analytical method that has been developed to accuratelyquantify seven halogenated furanones and their geometric isomers, 12 components in total, at ng/L levels in drinking waters. These halogenated furanones are analogues of the highly mutagenic compound 3-chloro-4-(dichloromethyl)-5-hydroxy-2[5H]-furanone, otherwise known as MX. Includes 11 references, table, figures.
