Most apartment units for senior citizens in Ontario are all-electric buildings, i.e., the hot water heating and space heating energy source is electricity. Ontario House Corporation, which own and operates most of these buildings, requested Ontario Hydro to study possible energy conservation measure in the service water heating systems. To determine the actual energy saving that could be realized under normal operating conditions, a cooperative study on energy conservation was undertaken. This report summarizes the results of the study, recommendations and details of tests in a 98 suite senior citizens apartment building in Port Credit, Ontario.
