States that as a building's ventilation and cooling airflow supply temperature and flow rate are reduced below the conventional value of 55degF, indoor thermal environment considerations such as adequate thermal comfort and ventilation flow rate become increasingly important. Reviews the behaviour of cold air jets - specifically jet momentum and jet separation for application to cold-air distribution systems. Develops a simple model of cold air jet separation which is combined with jet throw equations. Also includes ventilation and thermal comfort considerations. States that the results from the ideal model indicate that for the same cooling capacity, the jet throw and separation point will be the same for both conventional and cold-air jets if the jet momentum is held constant.KEYWORDS: Air jets, low temperature, air, models, calculating, ventilation, thermal comfort.
