Moulton Niguel Water District (MNWD), located in southern California, is implementing
an intranet-based information portal and management toolkit for a variety of critical assets and
operating data for its recycled water system. Included are system and facility descriptions;
system management and facility operating procedures; databases; administrative, institutional
and regulatory requirements and records; facility construction and other system drawings; and
system models and other analytical tools. The integrated databases, which include maintenance
management, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system and customer data, are
accessed via convenient menu-driven, schematic and geographical user interfaces. The
management tools include integrated access to a full-featured hydraulic network model and
several custom spreadsheet-based models. The information portal includes built-in Internet links
to equipment suppliers, utility and other provider websites. The aggregate of these data and tools
is called the Management System Standard Operating Procedures (MSSOP), which functions on
a typical networked desktop computer as a single application running in a conventional web
browser.
Includes table, figures.
