In this paper, a review of thermochemical heat storagetechnologies and systems with solar energy usage in buildingsis presented, focusing on thermochemical materials (TCMs)with a charging temperature below 140°C (284°F). The paperis organized as follows: the “Thermochemical Heat Storage”section sums up the fundamentals of thermochemical heat storageand contains an overview of TCMs suitable for solarenergy storage. The “Sorption Storage Systems” section presentspossible system configurations for thermochemical heatstorage and evaluates applications appropriate for reducingthe energy needs of buildings. Energy and exergy efficiency ofthermochemical storage systems is included in the “Energyand Exergy Efficiency” section, followed by a “Conclusion”section.
