1.1 This test method covers the electrical performance in a specified water solution of an insulating varnish applied over enamelled magnet wire. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to inch-pound units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Specific precautionary statements are given in Section 6 . Note 1: There is no IEC method equivalent to this standard. 1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee. ====== Significance And Use ====== 4.1 This test method is useful in determining the performance of varnishes over enamelled magnet wire when subjected to the specified sodium chloride solution. It is useful in evaluating the resistance of varnished magnet wire to a diluted sodium chloride solution under applied voltage.
