It supersedes the first edition, published in 1965 under the title Resistance Welding Qualification Code for Fabricators of Structural Members Used in Buildings.1 Scope1.1This Standard specifies requirements for the certification of companies engaged in resistance welding of steel and aluminum.1.2This Standard specifies requirements for(a) the qualification of personnel;(b) the qualification of welding procedures; and(c) process control procedures.1.3This Standard does not address safety issues associated with welding and welding practices. It is the responsibility of the user of this Standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.Note: CAN/CSA-W117.2 addresses safety in welding.1.4In CSA Standards, ""shall"" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; ""should"" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; ""may"" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard; and ""can"" is used to express possibility or capability.
