Component models have been developed for performance simulation of equipment typically found in static ice storage systems used for peak electric demand management. The models have been incorporated into the Component-Based Simulator, developed at a national laboratory as part of the DOE-2 building energy analysis computer program. The current software package, called CBS/ICE, is limited to static, ice-on-coil-type ice builders. This paper documents the engineering algorithms incorporated in two of the key component models: the icebuilder evaporator and the ice storage tank. A general description of the CBS/ICE program and its algorithmic structure is also given.
