Drinking water treatment chemical contamination, presence of foreignmatter, and delivery problems can affect drinking water quality, plant reliability, regulatory compliance, and residuals handling and disposal practices. The goal of this study was to detail treatment chemical issues and to identify areas for improvement that will reduce the consequences associated with treatment chemical problems. The application of simple procedural recommendations in the areas of treatment chemical inventory, chemical bid specification, pre-unloading procedures and testing, and periodic specialty testing will improve the reliability of service and drinking water quality.
