This research project quantifies the benefits and the longevity of the recommissioning process on variable air volume (VAV) systems that incorporate direct digital control (DDC), over an extended period, utilizing three full data trends. System performance was judged from a DDC performance perspective and included building pressurization, outdoor air quantity, duct static pressure, zone flow, temperature control as well as building pressurization. Control system performance was considered prior to the recommissioning process, immediately after recommissioning and after an extended period (a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of ~2 years). Results were compared to the original design intents.
