The two objectives of this paper are: to reflect upon experience (good and bad) of a water utility laboratory in the purchase, implementation, and daily use of a Laboratory Information Managment System (LIMS); and, to present examples of how this laboratory uses the LIMS, especially as a water quality database. The laboratory's experience with the LIMS after using it for more than two years are discussed along with a description of the reports than are produced by the LIMS.
