This article recounts the steps taken by the Denver Water Department during the past five years to secure its properties and operations. Early action focused on specific security problems. Currently, however, the department utilizes risk management. Added benefits of this program are the resultant savings, not only from money saved by fewer losses but from lower insurance costs. Security measures at the central administration building, remote pump stations, and other facilities are described, and responsibilities of the security section are outlined. Includes figures.
