Savings in energy requirements of an air-conditioning plant may be obtained with heat exchangers. A plate heat exchanger can provide heat recovery in a ventilation system with complete separation of the air streams, or it can cool the incoming air without changing the moisture content by evaporative cooling of the plates from the exhaust side.A novel design of a plate heat exchanger suitable for both uses is described, performance data are given and design studies are presented.
