Revised in 2005, this edition of the specification lists four distinct service classes of cranes. This gives the purchaser a method to match the duty cycle of the application without over-designing the crane and increasing its manufacturing costs. It is a comprehensive and rational approach to the design and construction of steel mill cranes and other cranes having related or similar usage. The specifications are divided into four main sections: General, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical, with their relative commentaries and appendices. Revisions have been made in each section of the report.
