It is not claimed that it is impossible to approximate a solar collector’s performance by means of test data generated by ASHRAE 93-77, in fact, this paper demonstrates the opposite. However, the reporting format imposed by the test procedure and the complexities of proceeding from clear-sky data to average, all-day weather conditions is well beyond the capability or motivation of the majority of users of the information.
