This powerpoint presentation provides information on San Antonio (Texas) Water System's Residential Outdoor Water Use Pilot Program
that tracks the health of a
homeowner's landscape (with help from the
Bexar County Master Gardeners) and the
amount of water necessary to maintain or
further enhance it over the course of a year.
It's goal is to reduce outdoor water use by the
participating homeowners. An overview of the initial home evaluation is presented and includes:
home water conservation audit is conducted;
irrigation controller settings are recorded;
irrigation system is checked zone by zone for
maintenance and design conditions and to
calculate the amount of water used in gallons
per minute; and,
complete inventory of plant material and
landscape characteristics are recorded by
Master Gardeners. Benefits for program participants are listed, along with project timeline and observation from initial home visits.
