This powerpoint presentation provides a brief overview of the Charlotte-
Mecklenburg Utilities (CMU) water system and Master Plan
and illustrates how the drought and changing water use
patterns were addressed in the master planning process to
help ensure that CMU would develop a sustainable Master
Plan which considers potential climate change and water
scarcity issues. Master Plan objectives included the following: establish water demand projections;
perform hydraulic capacity evaluations; identify needed treatment, pumping, storage, and
transmission main improvements; and, prepare 5-year and 10-year Capital Improvements Plans (CIPs) with capital costs. Historical and projected growth is presented, along with residential unit consumption analysis, and potential impacts on facilities planning. Includes tables, figures.
