A REALISTIC 3-D COMPUTER MODELING TECHNIQUE WILL BE USED TO SIMULATE SINGLE POINT GRINDING PROCESSES AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS (DYNAMIC EFFECTS), DIFFERENT TOOL GEOMETRIES (TIP RADIUS, RAKE ANGLES) AND DIFFERENT DEPTHS OF CUT. THE STRESS, STRAIN AND VELOCITY FIELDS WILL BE ANALYZED IN THREE DIMENSIONS. THE COMPUTATION WILL BE PERFORMED USING DYNA3D CODE AS THE GENERAL PURPOSE CODE, WITH SPECIAL USER SUBROUTINES TO BE DEVELOPED IN-HOUSE TO SUPPLEMENT DYNA3D AS RESEARCH PROGRESSES. THERE ARE THREE MODELS FOR THE COMPUTATIONAL RESULTS.
