Merely pumping it to the starch adhesive preparation area for use does not take into account the potential for adhesive performance degradation. Experience has demonstrated that when the adhesive has been formulated carelessly, washup water can shorten your adhesives potential usable pot-life and thus reduce manufacturing speeds.
