Some 200 Ml of water are reused in Los Angeles and Orange Counties each day for a variety of uses. Spurred by a statewide drought, area water and wastewater utilities conducted the Orange and Los Angeles Counties Water Reuse Study, which revealed that long-term reuse potential for the region is 1150 Ml/d. The study spawned a ten-year project plan that would expand reuse applications and make water reuse an official part of the California Water Plan. Customer screening criteria, market priorities, geographic service areas, surveys, direct filtration, lime softening, carbon filters, reverse osmosis, cost components, and industrial uses are discussed. Includes tables, figures.
