This study focuses on the evaluation of existing programs, steps that led to the decision
to apply for a Water Security Initiative Grant, and challenges associated with the mobilization of
resources for staff hiring and contractor procurement. The New York City Contamination Warning
Demonstration Pilot (CWSDP) builds on existing programs and will enhance their output
through expansion of monitoring programs and the development of an enhanced data
acquisition platform or dashboard. The dashboard will provide data integration from various data
streams (continuous water quality monitoring data, consumer calls, syndromic surveillance, and
security) and will also be the common link for hydraulic modeling and consequence
management. Mobilization of resources (staffing and procurement) represents major challenges
that need to be accounted for in the CWSDP timeline. Includes abstract only.
