It supersedes the previous editions published 1991 and 1986.For general information on Standards of theCanadian Electrical Code, Part II, see the preface of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 0,General Requirements — Canadian Electrical Code, Part II.This edition does not introduce significant technical changes. It represents an update of the standards references and conversion from imperial to metric units.This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.Scope:1.1This Standard applies to modular wiring systems combined with the office furniture in which they are intended to be used.1.2This Standard applies to equipment intended to be permanently connected to one or more supply circuits at a nominal system voltage of 120 V to ground, and a rating of 15 or 20 A maximum per circuit, for use in nonhazardous locations, in accordance with the Rules of theCanadian Electrical Code, Part I.1.3This Standard also applies to cord-connected equipment provided with one or more power supply cords intended to be connected to one or more branch circuits rated at 120 V to ground and 20 A maximum and supplied from one or more dedicated branch circuit(s) each being terminated at the receptacle of CSA Configuration 5-20R.1.4This Standard specifies the requirements that affect electrical safety only.1.5This Standard specifies the requirements for protective routing of communication circuits.1.6In this Standard, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application.
