NEMA LSD 7-1999 (R2012, S2020) discusses various scientific studies on possible effects of exposure to light sources reported in the popular press. This interest has been stimulated by the fact that: 1) most light sources emit some small amount of UV energy, and 2) extended exposure to the high UV levels in sunlight can cause adverse effects in the skin.
