This test method covers the sampling, preparation of specimens, and determination of the absorption of architectural cast stone.

This test method describes two procedures: (

) cold water and (

) boiling water. The user of the test method should stipulate which is desired. If no stipulation is made, the cold water procedure will be used.

This test method is to be used in determining the absorption of cast stone. Absorption is one measure of porosity of cast stone and, hence, its resistance to weathering and structural stress.
