This slide presentation outlines a study on TTHM and HAA5 modeling and improvement planning in a full-scale distribution system. Objectives included: conduct TTHM and HAA5 modeling based on calibrated hydraulic model to identify locations with potential high disinfection byproduct (DBP) levels; and, evaluate alternative improvement plans for identified hydraulic and water quality deficiencies. Achieving the objectives involved: developing calibrated hydraulic model; improvement for hydraulic deficiencies; calibrating water quality model; improvement for water quality deficiencies; improvement planning; and, cost estimates for all improvement alternatives. The summary of the study includes: identified locations with potential high levels of TTHM and HAA5; and, selected the optimum improvement plan based on identified multiple conflicting objectives.
