SIMULATION ANALYSES CAN BE THE KEY TO SUCCESSFUL CIM IMPLEMENTATIONS. A CONCEPT IS DOCUMENTED WHERE SIMULATION IS USED TO ASSIST THE COMPANIES IN ALL PHASES FROM DESIGN OF THE PRODUCTION SYSTEM LAYOUT, FOR EDUCATION/TRAINING, FOR ON-LINE PRODUCTION SCHEDULING TO THE REAL TIME CONTROL OF THE PHYSICAL PRODUCTION EXECUTION. IT IS SHOWN HOW COMPUTER SIMULATION IS INTEGRATED IN THE MANUFACTURING CONTROL SYSTEM. WITH THIS CONCEPT, IT IS POSSIBLE TO TAILOR COMPUTER-INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING (CIM) SYSTEMS FOR THE INDIVIDUAL COMPANY. THE CONCEPT IS BASED ON PC TECHNOLOGY AND IS VERY FLEXIBLE AND EASY TO USE.
