THIS PAPER PRESENTS TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS AND ADVANCEMENTS IN SPECIAL GRINDING TOOLS EMPLOYING A COMPOSITION OF ABRASIVE GRAINS AND SHAPED NYLONS USED IN THE PRECISION RADIUS GRINDING OF CARBIDE AND CERAMIC CUTTING TOOL INSERTS. THEORETICAL CALCULATIONS, EXPERIMENTAL AND LABORATORY TESTS DATA ARE REVIEWED ALONG WITH TECHNICAL AND PICTORIAL INFORMATION RELATING TO THE DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND ENGINEERING OF THE NEW SPECIAL ABRASIVE NYLON GRINDING TOOLS. PRE-PRODUCTION TESTS AND ON-GOING PRODUCTION RESULTS ARE EXAMINED IN DETAIL WITH COMPARISONS MADE BETWEEN THE ADVANCED SPECIAL ABRASIVE GRINDING TOOLS AND WHAT WAS AT ONE TIME, THE STANDARD ABRASIVE RADIUSING TOOLS USED IN THE CUTTING TOOL INSERT INDUSTRY. CONCLUSIONS ARE DRAWN FROM PRODUCTION EXPERIENCES. IMPROVEMENTS WERE MADE IN UNIFORMITY OF RADIUS QUALITY ON EACH INSERT, THE INCREASED WORK PER UNIT OF TIME PRODUCED BY THE ABRASIV
