The performance of ultra-low-volume (ULV) toilet fixtures was studied under field conditions in Phoenix, Arizona. Two residential subdivisions were compared, one utilizing conventional toilet fixtures and one using ULV fixtures. The study evaluated water savings and wastewater flow reduction provided by the ULV fixtures, their effect on drainage and sewer transport, and their in-house performance and acceptance by users compared with their conventional counterparts.
