The purpose of this standard is to establish specifications for Tandem Connection Monitoring using the optical interface specified in T1.105-2001. This standard defines the contents and use of the Tandem Connection Monitoring bytes within the SONET signal. Tandem Connection Monitoring provides enhanced maintenance capabilities for certain SONET applications.
