The single pass, superabrasive process has proven to be a very effective means of precision finishing the inside diameter of components at high production rates and in a wide variety of materials. One of the most recent and fastest growing of these materials has been advanced ceramics. This paper specifically details the unique application of single pass, superabrasive bore finishing of ceramic components including the operating parameters, stock removal capabilities, tool life, machine tools, coolants, geometric capabilities, superabrasive tooling, benefits, and review of various case histories.
