View Sample Alloy Digest Data Sheet (PDF)Since 1952, Alloy Digest has been the leading reference for materials property data on metals and alloys used throughout the world. Featuring graphs, charts and tables, these sheets give facts and figures on composition or characterization, physical and mechanical properties, heat treatment, and machinability.Bismuth-37.7Pb-11.3Sn-8.5Cd is a bismuth-base alloy that melts through the temperature range 160-190 F. It shrinks immediately upon solidification, grows back to zero in about an hour and then shows more growth. This shrinkage-growth behavior makes it ideal for proof casting and precision measurement of internal dimensions. Originally this alloy was developed for use by children for casting toy soldiers and other small objects. Among the low-melting alloys, it performs best for spraying in the spray forming of masks and molds and in metallizing.
