Occurrence and Source of Pharmaceutical Compounds, Personal Care Products (PPCPs) and Endocrine Disrupting Substances (EDC) in Drinking Water Sources
饮用水源中药物化合物、个人护理产品(PPCP)和内分泌干扰物(EDC)的出现和来源
This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of emerging contaminants such as pharmaceuticals and
personal care products, and household, industrial and
agricultural chemicals. Study objectives include the following: monitor the occurrence of emerging contaminants in
raw and treated wastewater, source water and treated
drinking water;
identify the main sources of contaminants in 4 systems, including
Mille-Iles / des Prairies River / Assumption / St. Lawrence;
estimate the removals by WW and DW treatment plants
in the greater Montreal area; and,
identify the best surrogates for groups of trace contaminants. Topics covered include: location of sampling sites around Montreal;
characteristics of wastewater treatment
plants and drinking water facilities;
analytical methods; and,
results WW, source and treated DWs. Presentation conclusions indicate the following: intake of drinking water facility (DWF3) constitutes
simultaneously the entry point of the Mille-Iles and Des
Prairies rivers;
pesticides/herbicides more often detected compounds
than the pharmaceutical products;
at intake of DWF4, pharmaceuticals are more abundant due to
the pharmaceutical residues coming from municipal
sewage treatment plants discharges upstream, and
the pesticide compounds that come from the Ottawa River. Includes tables, figures.
