Water quality in Castelnaudary, France suffered from severe degradation.This city of 11,000 in southwestern France is supplied by boreholes and natural springs. Most of the customer complaints were of discolored water and taste and odor problems. The objectives of this study were to address these water quality issues by taking different actions at the treatment side as well as at the distribution side of the City's water system. This paper discusses the diagnosis of the problems and describes the actions takento remedy the situation. Includes 9 references, figures.
