With advances in technology also come advanced opportunities for utility water conservation professionals to communicate with customers. The virtual home web site was developed by the California Urban Water Conservation Council under a grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency to meet the educational needs of the general public, in particular homeowners, and is also useful to individuals intimately familiar with water conservation concepts. The conference presentation will provide a detailed review of content and be interactive. This paper is simply an overview of highlights illustrating useful data incorporated into the web site and also serves as documentation for utility staff members' reference in linking to the web site. For the benefit of residential customers, a link to the virtual home web site is encouraged from each water utility web site. The Internet address for the web site is: http://www.h2ouse.org. Contact information for linking to the site using a copy of the virtual home logo is available under the "About Us" area of the web site. Includes figures.
