The nation's municipal and industrial water supply is mostly a responsibility of non-Federal interests. However, the Corps of Engineers' reservoir system is a vital resource in the nation's system. Better operation of its reservoirs, both individually and system-wide, along with reallocation where needed can substantially augment water supply capability. With respect to the other side of the supply and demand equation, demand, the Corps' water conservation program will provide an increased and better service to water supply planners.
