1.1 This specification covers asphalt roofing in sheet form, in widths agreed upon between the purchaser and the producer/supplier, composed of asphalt-saturated organic felt coated on both sides with asphalt. Class M and WS rolls are surfaced on the (exposed) weather side with mineral granules, except for any selvage. Class S rolls are surfaced with powdered talc, mica, or other fine mineral matter to prevent sticking. 1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
