该标准通过磁粉探伤检查，明确了检测强磁性材料焊缝中表面不完整部分的技术，包括热影响部分。该技术适用于大多数焊接方法和接头形状。在基本技术中，提供更高或更低探伤灵敏度的变量在附件A中进行了说明
이 표준은 자분탐상검사에 의해 열영향부를 포함하여 강자성 재료의 용접부에 있는 표면 불완전부의 검출을 위한 기법을 명시하고 있다. 이 기법은 대부분의 용접 방법과 이음부 형상에 대해 적절하다. 기본적인 기법에서 더 높거나 더 낮은 탐상 감도를 제공하는 변수들은 부속서 A에 설명되어 있다
