An investigation of methods for the evaluation of polymer performance in coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, and sludge conditioning involved a literature review as well as laboratory and inplant comparisons of a number of candidate methods and associated variables. Results are given for the comparison of numerous jar-test variations, small-scale filtration methods, dewaterability tests, and other techniques. A procedures manual was developed during this study for use in the selection of optimal polymers and doses for water treatment applications. Includes 81 references, tables, figures.
