Scope1.1This Standard applies to complete flue-connected, oil-fired steam and/or hot-water low pressure boilers, provided with automatic control devices.1.2This Standard applies to boilers intended for residential use having an input of less than 3 gallons per hour (US) (approximately 400,000 Btu/h).Note: A boiler which has an input exceeding this limit may be considered under this Standard, provided it is one of a series of boilers, differing in size, and provided the other boilers in the series are within this limit.1.3This Standard applies to boilers, factory- or field- assembled, which have been, or could have been, completely assembled at the manufacturer's plant and transported in the assembled condition.1.4A unit which differs from that contemplated by this Standard may be examined and tested according to the intent of the Standard.1.5A unit which otherwise complies with the requirements of this Standard will not necessarily be deemed as complying with the Standard if it has other, or a combination of, features which, when examined and tested, are found to impair the result contemplated.1.6This Standard also applies to boilers intended for heating swimming pool water.
