Cross connection control is rapidly becoming an essential part of water system operation. The water purveyor's commitment to provide safe drinking water and in many cases regulations require the purveyor to have a cross connection program. A cross connection program will be more successful if it is tailored to the water system and the community it serves. An outline for setting up, enforcement authority, and operation of a cross connection program is presented.
